Tips for Workplaces.
Workplaces can...

  • allow employees to wear headphones for listening to music or white noise
  • offer swing spaces for conversations or deep reading where there are no distractions
  • employ scheduled blocks of uninterrupted time during the day where the phone is set on do not disturb and e-mail notifications are blocked
  • offer sit stand desks
  • encourage exercise during lunch hours
  • encourage doing tasks that are mini movement breaks, like walking to a co-workers desk rather than picking up the phone and using the stairs rather than the elevator
  • encourage people to write notes during meetings  to reduce impulsive interrupting
  • employ Post-It planning to map out ideas visually
  • partner employees for projects
